September 2009 Blog Archive
21 September 2009 This week in pictures…
As I am really, really, really, really busy I have decided to portray this week at Rapport through the medium of photography (no, its not lazy its creative...)
We got sent some chocolate fudge brownies!
Abi and Chris went to see Gordon Ramsay
My beloved car got towed and sold for scrap (I am £20 better off!)
We found some more suitable postcards of Blackpool - sorry Paul!
...and Chris went to a conference on the Science of Success and learn't that to be successful in business you need to have high social and emotional intelligence.
4 September 2009 The Summer of Wind
Its surprising what can happen in a season...
This blog takes a nostalgic look back over the summer of '09 or 'The summer of Wind' as I have affectionally called it (referring to the weather of course) its surprising how much can happen in three months. See how wold-wide events have effected us here at Rapport:
Swine Flu - as the first Briton died to the virus, Rapport celebrated (well maybe thats the wrong word) its first employee 'sick day' (we were reliably informed that it wasn't actually swine flu, but you see the connection...).
In a battle to the end Andy Murray just lost out to Roddick in the Wimbledon semi-final - in another major sporting achievement I had completed the 5k Race for Life just a few weeks before.
Death of Michael Jackson - despite being in the middle of an event in a hotel basement venue room with no phone reception what so-ever, we still managed to receive this breaking news before the majority of the country!
Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid - with one city and one united fan in the office, tensions were fraught!
Warmer June then the average temp from 1971 - 2000 - this resulted in everyone at rapport complaining about the heat and unfortunately a bad decision at ASDA meant I had to eat soup for lunch every day in front of the electric fan. this was also around the time Paul started wearing his shorts for work, there is no doubt that his presumptuous actions resulted in the following 2 months of rain.
Ronnie Briggs the 'Great Train Robber' is released from prison on compassionate grounds, in a related Rapport issue, my stolen passport was renewed after an interesting week of post office queuing and photo booths.
The BNP controversially won two seats in the European Parliament, Rapport also faced 'political issues' when Chris visited Shanghai and found the Chinese Internet police were hot on his trail meaning all access to world news and social networking sites were blocked
So 'The butterfly Effect' must be true, things which happen thousands or miles away can have (an albeit tenuous) link to our everyday lives. Heres to to Summer 2010 which I am already dubbing 'The Summer of Sun' - wishful thinking...
