28th June 2010 Two weeks in the life of Rapport
I thought it was high time I gave you all a behind the scenes peek of what two weeks in the life of Rapport is really like, because I know you were all dying to know…
What a difference two weeks makes, we’ve all been very productive, below are some of (what I feel) are the highlights;
We worked with Pete Waterman and Jimmy Carr (on separate events)
Attended an all-expenses paid evening at Belle Vue dog racing track
Enjoyed a pleasant meeting (and cakes!) on board a ‘Visit Scotland’ tour bus which parked up outside the office on Ducie Street
Produced events in; London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Sheffield!
Got a new office shredder
Found a new way of ‘creative thinking’ involves 6 hats
Stumbled across a niche in the market that could make us millionaires
And… finished a Café Nero loyalty card!
So now you know…
Somehow this weeks blog has ended up being full of fun games and websites, I must have that Friday feeling!
I will be ever grateful to my friend for sending me a gem earlier on in the week, theres nothing like an amusing animal-based website to brighten up a Tuesday. We all know that a dog is for life etc, but once they grow up and aren't as cute and fluffy you can get a tad bored with looking at the same pet everyday, so the solution is finally here, dying the fur so they look like other animals!
Its all the range in China, apparently... and before anyone starts ringing the NSPCA according to the owners the dye is all animal friendly and causes no stress or discomfort - so we can all laugh guilt-free (sort of).

We had a very interesting meeting with a chap today, who came to talk to us about a creative thinking concept that can be applied all areas of working life. Although a lot of what he said was very informative and will be useful to put into practice in the future, obviously I was left with one, slightly less educational task he asked us to perform, see if you can do it. Get a piece of A4 paper and cut a hole in it big enough to fit your whole body through....I'll leave you with that one for the weekend.
I highly recommend you download the new Jeremy Kyle app, for a mere 59p you can ask Jeremy a question, or tell him about a problem and he will reply in his usual tactful manor, hours of fun!
5th June 2010 Absence makes the heart grow fonder...
Its been a while! What with getting stuck in Thailand for an extra 13 days due to a volcanic eruption in Iceland and undertaking Rapport's biggest event in recent history in Paris (where, incidentally the ash cloud managed to reappear - I seriously started to think it was following me around like a rain cloud follows characters in cartoons), the blog has taken a bit of breather. An extra two weeks in Thailand isn't that bad I suppose, especially when I heard that when a volcano erupted in Iceland in the 18th century it took out a fifth of its population and the 'ash cloud' which then drifted over to Britain was full of poisonous gases, killing in the region of 230,000 people, so can't complain!
So where to start? You may have noticed that the Rapport website is looking a bit different lately, we are about to embark on a whole new and exciting chapter of our lives centered around the mysterious mantra 'Meet. Think. Do'. Those of you who have been lucky enough to be on-site with us recently may have picked up your snazzy new Meet. Think. Do T-shirt (theres plenty more so don't worry if you haven't got yours yet!), so the brand is slowly starting to creep out but keep your eyes peeled for lots more in the future.
As everyone's inbox and mobile phone will tell you, its marathon season and the pleas for donations are coming in thick and fast. Well done to everyone who has taken part in a run so far (promise I will sponsor you...) and especially to Rapport's answer to Usain Bolt, Paul who, despite months of jibes from me for putting his estimated time down when applying for the Manchester run as 42 minutes, managed to pull it off in 47 mins. And just when you thought you were safe from the sponsor pleas on the Rapport website, you were wrong...anyone who wants to sponsor Paul can do so at http://www.justgiving.com/paulrosedesign.
I'd like to leave you today with a joke which here at Rapport we don't get, apparently its quite famous and those smug-types who get it feel they 'shouldn't need to explain the punch line', anyway see what you think...
This is Paul's version (he doesn't get it either by the way)- Two hippos are sat in a swamp in the middle of the rainforest when one turns to the other and says 'I keep thinking its Thursday'.
This is what we found on the internet as an explanation, we are too cheap to buy the whole article so if someone wants to do it and let us know it will be much appreciated...
